Slowdive Announce First Album In 22 Years

The band have also unveiled a new track titled ‘Sugar for the Pill’.

Showgaze pioneers Slowdive have announced that they will release their first album in 22 years. The self-titled album will be released on May 5th via Dead Oceans, the band’s first release since 1995’s Pygmalion. Watch the official video for their new track ‘Sugar for the Pill’ below. The band will stream a surprise London show tomorrow night, held at The Garage.

Slowdive was recorded at the Courtyard in Oxfordshire and mixed in Los Angeles by Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands, Deadbeat Darling, Grizzly Bear, TV On The Radio). In a press statement, chief songwriter Neil Halstead, said:

 “When you’re in a band and you do three records, there’s a continuous flow and a development. For us, that flow re-started with us playing live again and that has continued into the record.”
