Single Review: Big Tooth – “Annie Girl”

Annie Girl is the latest offering from Twickenham band Big Tooth, the self-confessed dream pop outfit have crafted a woozy beaut of a track.

The juxtaposition between the joyous sound and the melancholic vocals of Joe Weightman lift the heart and then play with the head. A Radiohead-esque intro leads straight into an acoustic verse of spacious guitar that spells out a scene of early morning dew and spring optimism, its only Joe’s confession of “Don’t leave me, don’t leave me, I’m the one to blame” that show his true intent.

The chorus throws fantastic harmonies into the mix, it’s as if Big Tooth’s vocals were born to be brought together. BBC Introducing are infatuated as the real Annie girl would be, adding the band to their London Bridge Festival.

Big Tooth have created a woozy beautiful track with Annie Girl, a seriously talented band that could become cult heroes and should be front and centre of your new music picks for 2017.
