Dodging the massive thunder showers, Ash hopped on the stage to deliver an electric performance following their mighty support slot with The Smashing Pumpkins.

Opening this Leopardstown show with ‘Meltdown’, quickly followed through with a highly animated cover of ‘Teenage Kicks’, Ash had encouraged an extremely varied crowd towards the stage. Ranging from young teenagers up to much older generations, the Irish fans were out in full force to welcome these guys home.

Grasping a number of old classics, Ash’s set was well received. Frontman, Tim Wheeler executed as much electricity as ever on stage but with little diversity. Although proving their experience on the live stage, something about the band’s presence on this particular night suggested uncertainty.

Not totally affecting their overall quality, with songs such as ‘Shining Light’ and ‘Jack Names The Planet’ forcing Tim’s vocals to be drowned out as he encouraged everyone to sit on someone’s shoulders- contrary to the actions of security.

Departing the stage to a courtyard of screams, all howling “one more tune!”, Ash arrived back asking “would you mind if we played three more tunes?”. With ‘Angel Intercopter’ amongst those three, Ash finished on the familiar note of their major hit- ‘Burn Baby Burn’- before respectably bowing before their adoring fans.

Below photos by myself. Click here for more photos of the night.
