Review: Eoin Glackin- The Workman’s Club, Dublin- 26/07/13

Following the release of his album ‘Rain Finally Came’, Dublin singer/songwriter, Eoin Glackin has watched the support rise rapidly around his music.

With the hype building all week, Eoin’s headline show was bound to attract a crowd to The Workman’s Club. Support came in the form of Eoin’s keyboard player- also a solo singer/songwriter- Michael MacLennan, who introduced the venue to a number of his mellow originals.

Opening his set with ‘Last Night’, Eoin began on a strong note with pounding electric guitar strums ringing in the midst of a full band sound. Tracks from the album were projected on top form as Eoin threw his entire basket of energy and passion into his performance.

As the set progressed to tracks such as ‘No One Had A Light’ and title track of the album ‘Rain Finally Came’, the atmosphere was building into an excited mass of voices; all screaming lyrics up at this up and coming Irish talent. Finishing his set on clear crowd favourite’ ‘Hello Caroline’, Glackin was welcomed back on stage for a respected encore.

Using the intimate setting of The Workman’s Club to his advantage, Eoin jumped down into the middle of the crowd, who in turn formed a circle. Performing a cover of Mic Christopher’s well-known ‘Heyday’, a sing-song concluded Eoin’s utterly successful performance.
