Not To Be Missed: Liverpool XY Festival

As we approach the highly anticpated XY Festival in Liverpool, we take a look at some of the artists playing this years event that you really don’t want to miss.

Taking place at Liverpool’s Guild of Students on July 11th, the one day festival is headlined this year by Half Moon Run and also includes some of the most exciting new bands in the UK including The Family Rain and Catfish & The Bottlemen, who both feature in our artists not to be missed:

5. Andrew Metcalfe

Frontman of the massively successful former band Sound of Guns, now going solo, Andrew Metcalfe defines what a rock voice is, his raw and powerful voice alongside some of the most soul hitting and haunting lyrics of recent years stand him out as one of the best talents UK rock music has. Playing a mix of his own material and some classic Sound of Guns material, Andrew Metcalfe is not to be missed on what will only be his second solo Liverpool show since the band split.

4. Little Comets

Little Comets have a blend of indie pop like no other, a band that make you dance with their catchy guitar riffs and party-esque material that stands them out above every other band that compare to them. Their smash hits ‘Jennifer’ and ‘Dancing Song’ are the ones that create the party, with the excellent material from the bands ever growing catalogue making this band another that you don’t want to miss at XY Festival.

3. The Family Rain

After releasing their highly anticipated debut album earlier this year, indie rock trio The Family Rain are one of the UK’s hottest new rock bands and sell out gigs everywhere they go; with an ever growing fan base, the band are one of the most popular circuit bands and will certainly bring a big crowd with them when they take to the stage at XY Festival. If you like your indie rock music turned up full volume with riff loving bass and hard hitting vocals, The Family Rain are the band for you.

2. Half Moon Run

This years headline band hail from Canada and made their name over here with smash hit ‘Full Circle’ and have gone from strength to strength since, the acoustic indie trio create an atmosphere full of love and have the audience in the palm of their hands from the first note. Half Moon Run’s debut album ‘Dark Eyes’ was massively acclaimed in the UK and was well supported by Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1, intriguing and mind-blowing live, catch Half Moon Run in Liverpool at XY Festival.

1. Catfish & The Bottlemen

This years biggest breakthrough band by a country mile, Catfish & The Bottlemen, return to Liverpool for the first time since their massive sold out gig at East Village Arts Club earlier in the year as one of the most exciting young bands that the UK has had in years, supported heavily by BBC Radio 1 and XFM, the band recently headlined the BBC Introducing stage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow and take to huge stages at this years T in the Park and Reading and Leeds festivals, with their debut album set to be released in September, take this opportunity to see the hottest young band in the UK in an intimate atmosphere while you still can, check out our recent interview with the band here:
