20 year old Rapper Tink made the drawling eight hour flight from Chicago this week to show the UK exactly why she has been marked as Timbaland’s latest protégée.
Her talent surprising picked up from one of Timbaland’s dream courtesy of Aailyah… Yes as weird as that sounds it’s apparently true! Tink has a lot to prove, but with an empowering girl power attitude, sweet and sour lyrics of real talk rap verses smooth R&B this girl has balls to make it to the top.
Hip-hoppers lined the streets of Dalston early on Wednesday night whilst The Nest prepared itself for the Sold-Out event everyone was buzzing for. Primarily hip-hop flavour at the core, this sweaty smoke box of a venue was the sticky unpolished venue choice one would expect from such a bold act.
Getting the party started was DJ Semtex from BBC Radio One XTRA shortly followed by special guest Charles Hamilton. An uncanny flat reception seemed to surround him and failing himself to promote his most known and current chart-topping single featuring Rita Ora, NY raining this addition unfortunately didn’t warrant any enthusiasm.
Although at 9.30 it was Tink time and the female heavy Tink cult was instantly sold by her spicy peri rap opener, Around the Clock. Do you ever get that hunger moment when you’re about to see an artist live for the first time and you’re a bit unsure whether they will cut the mustard? Forget the sauce Tink is a juicy meat platter you just want to rip your teeth into.
Turning up the love dial heat Tink held the crowd energy with a sick freestyle of Treat Me Like Somebody taken from her latest mix tape Winter’s Diary. Keeping things thriving she also added a remix of Aaliyah’s classic One in A million before hooking us in with a London Shuffle as she gave an exclusive performance of Wet Dollars which has just aired on UK radio.
