EP Review: The Coronas – How This Goes

Set to drop exactly a week from today, June 29th, ‘How This Goes’ EP is the latest stellar offering from The Coronas.

Teaming up with Elliot James on production (Kaiser Chiefs, Noah and the Whale, Two Door Cinema Club), this EP also sees the four-piece collaborate with fellow Irish artists and good pals, Hudson Taylor on track two ‘Just The Right Time’. A mellow, stripped back, piano-driven number, the verses highlight the individual artists’ vocals and originalities, while the chorus units them through harmonies.

Other tracks on the album include the obvious title track ‘How This Goes’, an energetic crowd-pleaser, timed perfectly coming into festival season! With catchy hooks and a contagious chorus melody, the title track is a real anthemic, live track.

Track three, ‘Speak My Mind’ is a new appearance. Kicking off on a steady, rhythmic verse of trodding drums and corresponding vocals, the track builds and builds finishing on a powerful climactic chorus.

‘How This Goes’ EP concludes with live versions of ‘Just Like That’ and ‘What A Love’, the latter featuring beautiful crowd interaction. Nothing but flawless live, this version adds to the atmosphere and energy generated in the thriving guitar riffs. If the studio version could get any more lively, this is it!
