Texas’ hotly tipped three piece Purple are making waves around the globe with their proclaimed party rock. We caught up with drummer / vocalist Hannah to find out what makes Purple tick as a band.

Hey Hanna! How are you today?
Hey I’m good!! Kinda hungover because we made a music video yesterday and things got wild!
Tell us how everyone in Purple met?
I saw Taylor’s reggae band playing at a cafe when I was in high school and we just started jammin’ as a two piece. Our first bass player, Smitty, was Taylor’s friend already and he started jammin with us. Then he didn’t want to keep touring so now we have a new bassist Joe. We met him when his band opened up for us.
What has been your main influence on Purple’s music?
Alcohol and boredom.
Who would you like to be compared to?
Red Hot Chili Peppers.
You describe yourselves as “Party Rock” what would that be exactly?
Lots of energy, fun hooks, not too serious, punk, funk, ROCKNROLL, topless girls.
Texas has a huge music scene, how are you finding establishing yourselves amongst all the other well established genre’s in the state?
I think we are doing good in Texas. People love jammin some rock n roll out here.
Tell us about some of your major achievements so far?
For me, being in modern drummer magazine, playing on the French TV show “album de la Semaine”, 2 month long European tour opening up for The Subways, Kill it Kid , and Elliphant. Finishing 2 full albums. (The second one isn’t out yet).
Where would you want to be in five years as a band?
We wanna go to the Grammies! Haha Id just like to go as far as we can. I want to have a third album done by then and tour the whole world!
Are there any bands/acts you’ve been playing with you think we should check out?
Demob Happy!!!! We played a few shows with them in England. THEY RAWK!

Is there anything you want us to know about?
Yes.. Purple parties with all shapes, sizes and life forms. So come to our shows and have fun with us and be our friends. Who knows? We might end up having a make out sesh.
My predictions: With their DIY attitude and openly diverse fusion of genre’s these guys are a festival favorite on the horizon.
