Introducing: Daughter

Imagine mixing Ben Howard and The XX, if that happened it would result in something very similar to Daughter. Dark lyrics and riffs similar to those of the XX, along with that whispery type voice that haunts and hits you hard.

Formed in 2010 in London, the trio released three EP’s through 2010 and 2011 including ‘The Wild Youth’ EP which contains their stunning smash hit ‘Youth’ which may be recognised as one of the songs that featured in series 8 and 9 of the teenage drama tv series Skins.

Signed to major music labels in both the UK and America, 2012 was a great year for the band, as well as being signed their debut single ‘Smother’ was added to BBC Radio 1 and 6 music’s playlists and was made single of the week on Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens radio show.

Daughter was origionally just the solo work of vocalist Elena Tonra before guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella joined Elena to create Daughter.

The band released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘If You Leave’ earlier this month (March 2013) and was produced by Scottish producer Rodaidh McDonald, who produced the XX’s multi platinum debut album ‘xx’ and has also produced albums for The Horrors and Vampire Weekend. The album includes previous singles ‘Smother’ and ‘Youth’. The album has been praised highly by some of the biggest music critics in the business.

‘If You Leave’ is certainly an album that provides the trio the platform needed for them to jump into even bigger success.
