My Chemical Romance Announce Shock Split

After 12 years, 4 albums and numerous worldwide tours, My Chemical Romance have announced that they are no more.

Following on from the experimental ‘Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’, it was always questionable what the New Jersey based quartet would go on to do next. Unfortunately, for My Chemical Romance fans, it has been declared that Gerard Way and co have nothing more to offer.

In a surprise blog post earlier today, the band posted their official message:

“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure. My Chemical Romance.”

What lies next in store for all the members remains a mystery. Although Way has gained a lot of success as an executive producer recently, with his latest work on LostAlone’s ‘I’m A UFO In This City’ being a primitive example, whilst this may provide time for Frank Iero to re-collaborate with fellow-Romance member Ray Toro for the hardcore side-project, LeATHERMOUTH.

Whatever the case, they will be missed. I couldn’t think of anything more fitting to say goodbye than their 2005 hit, ‘Helena’: “So long and goodnight”.
