Festival Round-Up: Sea Sessions ’14

Bundoran’s annual music and surfing festival, Sea Sessions fortunately fell on one of Ireland’s sunniest weekends this Summer, provoking the beach atmosphere to wonderful levels…

Held in quite a small site area essentially looking over Bundoran’s main beach, the atmosphere of the entire weekend was really alive – from the beach volleyball to the relaxed seaside strolls, and then of course the hyped music festival that is Sea Sessions.

Boasting quite an impressive line-up , on an international scale, the weekend hosted a mix of some of the best Irish talent on the current scene like Walking On Cars and Hudson Taylor, as well as further-a-field highly acclaimed artists such as Ron Pope, Drenge and Kelis.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, one of the most hyped about and anticipated artists of the weekend, Ella Eyre, had to cancel her slot on the Sunday, leaving the Vodafone stage a bit less glamorous, but impressive nonetheless.

Giving the smaller, up and coming acts a chance to pick up some recognition and momentum, the festival held a series of unsigned slots.

Most definitely the greatest turnout of the weekend came in the form of the Sunday night, main stage, all packed in to see Kelis. With the exception of a few stray wanderers, the entirety of Sea Sessions seemed to be piled into the main stage for the final headliner.

The overall atmosphere of the festival was fantastic, helped on by the beautiful weather, the big screen showing the World Cup, and the halfpipe where people became engrossed in some skate-offs. An all-round brilliant weekend with ace music to top it all off.
