Fake Club is the London based girl-quintet that is on a mission to “hijack the industry machine and use it to their advantage while promoting a positive and intuitive message that actually means something”.
This is a pretty bold statement, for a band that recently got described as “Spice Girls with instruments”. But, honestly, what they are saying is the truth. They are here to make the most of the industry and we can’t help but support them along their adventurous journey.
Their grunge-like style only replays images of the times when we’d witness The Runaways and Suzi Quatro strutting across our TV set, back in the early-1990’s, and like their apparent influences; Fake Club are set to do the same.
On the 14th & 15th December, Fake Club will be curating and performing at 2 unique club nights at their space on Holloway Road. The club nights will actually be the set for a new film by up-and-coming director MJ Delaney, ‘When Women Wee’.
The film is based on the award winning play by Rachel Hirons and is “a comedy with an all-female cast set in the private space of a female public toilet. Here (they) offer an opportunity to voyeur at the private lives of all types of women: The young, the old, the divorced, the drunk and the depressed.”
Starring in the film among others are Sheridan Smith (Two Pints of Lager and Packet of Crisps, Hysteria), Jaime Winstone (Made In Dagenham, Kidulthood) and indie-pop star Kate Nash. Whilst, Fake Club have been commissioned to write the soundtrack to the film and are cast as the in-house band for the nightclub the film is located in, performing live on set for the attending audience.
This is set to be a very special night and apart from getting to see fantastic Fake Club tear up the stage as usual, you also get to be immortalised on the silver screen by being in the intimate audience for this exciting new film! The film is set to be premièred in Cannes in 2013.
