Act Of The Day: Blank Maps (6)

Blank Maps are an indie quartet from the North East. Finding the sound and musical direction they wanted in 2012, they are now on the trail to a big future.

About: Formed by drummer Jake who studied a masters degree in music at university, found vocalist and guitarist Thom and guitarist Ben through the internet and also through friends in 2010. The band, then as a three-piece scrapped all the songs they had and started fresh after university in 2012, acquiring bassist Ellwood in the process in the September who Jake describes “he’s definitely the person we’ve been missing this whole time’. With the band complete and knowing how they want to sound, the music has gone from there and released latest single ‘Everything Ends’ on March 4th this year.

Already having a pretty big gig under their belts with playing a set at Hyde Park last summer as part of the Olympics and more recently playing to a completely full venue at Liverpool’s Sound City festival, one which Jake said was their best gig to date, Blank Maps are gaining recognition and are well on their way to bigger and better things.

You can catch Blank Maps on May 15th at the Rattlesnake, Islington and also at The Cluny, Newcastle on May 25th as part of ‘Evolution Emerging’.
