French post-punk three-piece Versari have announced the release of their new album, Sous La Peau.
Featuring Portishead’s Adrian Utley, who produced their previous record Ostinato, the record oozes post-punk and post-hardcore soundscapes, juxtaposed with a thoughtful, literary vision. Discordant, angular and uncompromising, Sous la Peau is characterised by the spoken word vocal style of frontman Jean-Charles Versari; a style that conjures memories of the likes of The Fall.
To celebrate the announcement, Versari have unveiled three tracks from the album ahead of its release in November. The three song set includes forthcoming video release ‘Brûle’, album track ‘Des Images’, and the records final track ‘Plus de Tristesse’, with Versari giving a glimpse into what can be expected on the eight track album.
Formed in 2003, the band are known for the discordant, fuzz-filled guitar notes, scuzzy, driven bass lines and the seductive, atmospheric vocals. Also featuring former Sloy member Cyril Bilbeaud (drums) and Laureline Prod’home (bass/backing vocals) formerly of Candie Prune, as well as the aforementioned Adrian Utley (guitar, synth), Versari will release the video for ‘Brûle’ in November to coincide with the full album release in the UK.
Sous la Peau is out on 16th November 2020 via Good Deeds.
