The world premier of their new single “World Away” makes its’ debut as the Rocket Record on Daniel P Carter’s Radio 1 Rock show, a year since the release of their latest album “Limitless“.
“World Away” begins with anthemic chord progressions with supporting “whoa’s”, and hits a softer approach as McDougall’s vocals come in into the verse – carried by a solid drum beat and the slick Tonight Alive guitar libs that we know and love.
The song starts with McDougall singing about changes in life and how we may place pressure on ourselves to be in the place you want to be. The ability to realise that you can grow to meet these expectations hits at the chorus with “It doesn’t have to be a world away“. Throughout the track, it seems to tell a story of the journey of growth and self discovery through difficulties, whilst understanding why these difficulties occur, with the lyrics: “I realise the higher reason is accepting challenges as gifts“.
The break down at the song’s bridge and end resonates with the lasting message of hope and growth through what may be difficult trials: “My life is what I make it” and “This is not my punishment, this is my catalyst for growth. I know I will survive this, I’ll be the strongest person I know“.
An empowering song of hope and self-improvement from the return of the Sydney based band.
