West Ham and Liverpool agree £15m fee for Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll’s Liverpool nightmare took a step closer to it’s end this evening as West Ham agreed a fee with Liverpool for the purchase of the England international.

The powerful striker has enjoyed a fruitful season on loan with the Hammers and his impressive performances, particularly in the business end of the season, have seen Sam Allardyce’s side follow up their initial interest and are on the verge of securing a permanent move from Liverpool.

His seven goals this season for West Ham may not go all the way in justifying the fee apparently being paid but his aforementioned power and ability to hold up the ball have made West Ham a real force to be reckoned with when going forward and his interplay with the likes of former teammate Kevin Nolan appears to have been one of the main reasons that West Ham have chased Carroll’s signature.

His performances of late have even seen him earn a recall to Roy Hodgson’s England squad and if this transfer does go through then a match for his country against One of the all-time greats like Brazil will be a fitting way for Carroll to put his injury-plagued spell on Merseyside behind him.
