Akala’s Hyperlink Festival Performance At Tate Modern Goes Live

Following a brilliant performance at Hyperlink Festival at Tate Modern, MC Akala has agreed to première his recent release ‘Lose Myself’.

Featuring on Mistajam’s 1Xtra show, ‘Lose Myself’ is a powerful track featuring the sharp lyrical and vocal talents of the London born rapper, taken from the forthcoming album, ‘The Thieves Banquet’ – released through Illa State Records on May 27th.

Inspired by the title of celebrated Kenyan writer Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s novel, ‘The Devil On The Cross’, the record’s primary theme is power with discussions around race, class and spirituality decorating the lucid narrative.

Since the release of critically acclaimed debut album, ‘It‟s Not A Rumour’ in 2005, 29 year old North London based MOBO award-winning rapper, producer, writer and entrepreneur Akala (aka Kingslee Daley) has become one of Britain’s most revered and respected MCs.

Offering an alternative to braggadocio and bling in Hip Hop, Akala has been heralded as “one of the very few UK spokespeople for credible hip hop‟ (Time Out), while his music has been perennially lauded for being “Impassioned and articulate‟ (Q). This, coupled with Akala’s reputation for stellar live performances, has seen him grace stages across the globe, from Brazil to Vietnam to Australia.
