Vyacheslav Senchenko Leaves Ricky Hatton’s Return In Despair

One of Britain’s favourite boxers, Manchester-born Ricky Hatton fell to defeat in front of his hometown fans; marking the end to his comeback and the last bout of his boxing career.

After three years out of the ring following a devastating defeat to Manny Pacquiao, and stories of booze, drugs and suicide attempts, Ricky wanted to come back to prove to himself whether he still had enough in the tank to compete at the top level.

Ahead on points in the fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko, although looking ring rusty and throwing many wild punches, Hatton was caught with a jab before a thumping strike to the kidney area, which knocked him to the floor and ended the contest in the 9th round.

In a tearful interview after the fight, a distraught Hatton said “I needed one more fight to see if I had still got it – and I haven’t”. “A fighter knows and I know it isn’t there anymore. I have got to be a man and say it is the end of Ricky Hatton”.

His interview is available to view below:

Hatton fans won’t forget this fight in a hurry, but im sure it won’t be remembered like him taking thousands of fans to Vegas for his fights.

Thanks for the memories Ricky ‘Hitman’ Hatton.
