Top Picks At Galway International Arts Festival

With Galway International Arts Festival kicking off today and lasting for the forthcoming two weeks, we’ve had a nice scout through the event schedule to bring you our recommendations for the renowned festival.

 

Tuesday, July 14th: St. Vincent with special guests Little Green Cars – Live at the festival Big Top (Doors 7pm)

Making her festival debut tomorrow, one of the most exciting and inventive performers of the current scene, St. Vincent will take to the Big Top. Following the release of her debut album last year, which was named the No.1 Best Album of 2014 by The Guardian, Annie Clark’s unique sound is the perfect act for the early days of this year’s festival, joined by one of Ireland’s most recently renowned acts, Little Green Cars.

 

Tuesday, July 14th – Sunday, July 19th: Exhibit B’ by Third World Bunfight

Proud to be presenting the Irish premiere of Third World Bunfight’s Exhibit B, Galway International Arts Fest will be hosting the deeply moving theatre work in the Black Box Theatre. Created by South African Artist Brett Bailey, the work portrays the colonial policies and history of Europe in Africa. Quite intense and often poignant viewing and listening, the audience is taken through 13 individual scenes, lamented by an extremely impressive Namibian Choir. A must see at this year’s festival.

 

Thursday, July 23rd: Sinéad O’Connor with special guest John Grant – Live at the Festival Big Top (Doors 7pm)

An incredible double bill, Galway International Arts Fest are excited to present the iconic Sinéad O’Connor and the more recently renowned John Grant. Between O’Connor’s 2015 Meteor Choice Nominated album ‘I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss’ and Grant’s year old ‘Pale Green Ghosts’ receiving phenomenal reviews internationally, this bill is set to be one of the most exciting of the year.

 

Saturday, July 25th: The Coronas with special guests Little Hours – Live at the Festival Big Top (Doors 7pm)

Following their very successful 2014 album ‘The Long Way’, The Coronas have been regaining momentum with their live shows, including a very successful two nights at Live at the Marquee in Cork. Set to take their energetic live presence to Galway’s festival Big Top, it is set to be one of the most impressive musical nights of the festival. Special guests Little Hours have been rapidly growing in recent weeks and months, gaining support slots for some of the best, alongside smashing headline shows themselves. A line up not to be missed as the festival draws to a close.
