American DJ, producer, singer and songwriter Goldhouse has released a remix of Big World, the new single from Australian quartet MOBS.
Big World is an upbeat, peppy offering from a band who prides themselves on spreading joy with 80’s-influenced power pop. The original track combines synths with a funky, infectious beat and Goldhouse’s remix elevates the track even further. Big World opens with a whoosh of positivity with the line “welcome to the jungle of our lives, everybody’s just trying to survive. I know we might be small but we’re giving it our all for love.” Goldhouse’s addition of drum pads, a bubbling baseline and electronic flourishes make the track even more party ready. The 80’s vibe has been switched in part so the track sounds more house-influenced, especially with the deep electronic baseline and manipulated vocals. The chorus of “just stay close cos you know it’s just you and me girl in this big world” is addictive right from the off and I like how it gets chopped and reworked through the remix. Big World is the embodiment of positive vibes that we need to lift our spirits during this second lockdown.
When speaking of Goldhouse’s remix of Big World, MOBS said “We were in lockdown with COVID and decided to bring a different energy to a collective favourite song off the album, which is when Goldhouse entered the picture. We loved the work he did for Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes and thought that Goldhouse’s producing talent could bring a different groove to the work we did on that song. This upbeat rework got us dancing in a different way to Big World and we hope it has the same effect on you.”
MOBS released their debut EP Bad Love in 2017 and have toured with bands such as With Confidence and Deaf Havana as well as playing at a string of festivals such as The Great Escape. They released their debut album Cinema Paradiso earlier this year which is full of playful, dancefloor-ready tracks.
Chicago’s Goldhouse is known for his electro-pop reworks such as Sam Smith’s Stay With Me and Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams.
