Single review: Maria Kelly – ‘Stitches’

If you haven’t managed to stumbled across Maria Kelly’s stunning songwriting yet then shame on you. Over the past year she has gone from strength to strength and her latest single ‘Stitches’ may just be her best work yet.

‘Stitches’ is an intricate piece of indie folk that will send shivers down your spine. From the get-go Kelly’s irresistibly beautiful vocal takes centre stage before she is joined by a spell-bounding string arrangement. Maria’s natural story-telling charm feels similar to that of Lucy Rose and Laura Marling and combined with her unique, delicate vocal, could she be the next big thing? Who knows, but if she keeps pulling songs like this out that bag then she could well be on her way.

‘Stitches’ is out on now via Veta Records.
