Single Review: Inge van Calker – ‘River’

Having started out as more of a folk artist, Dutch artist Inge van Calkar has now developed her innovative sound with a more electronic edge. Fast becoming known for her immersive live performances, in which she dresses in unique and extravagant white costumes, she has now graced our ears with her infectious new single, ‘River’.

Propelled by throbbing, pulsating beats and ‘80s-inspired synth-driven hooks, ‘River’ shines with the glistening power of van Calkar’s rich vocals. Immensely catchy on first listen, it oozes a a sound akin to the sparkling energy of St. Vincent, creating an instantly uplifting slice of luscious alt-pop.

With performances at Eurosonic 2018 and Reeperbahn Festival already under her belt, van Calkar is now set to continue captivating listeners with the colourful splendour of this latest offering.
