Having picked up over 17 million streams on Spotify as well as his songs appearing on HBO’s New Amsterdam and Marie Claire, Ed Patrick might well be the UK’s best kept secret. The singer songwriter continues to exhibit his poignant style of songwriting as he shares latest single, Nothing Personal.
Raised on the South Coast of England, Patrick grew up in a music obsessed family exposed to an array of music. Ranging from old blues records to his mother’s Laurel Canyon songbooks, he was surrounded by the sights and sounds of great musicians past and present. Inspired, Patrick left school at just 16 to follow his dreams. Working in his local guitar shop, he amassed enough money to buy a one way ticket to North America seeking out his favourite guitarists, with the aim of learning from the best. The decision was one of great maturity that has served the artist well.
With a number of singles released over the past few years, Patrick has gained a healthy following on streaming platforms, featuring on Apple Music’s ‘Breaking Songwriter’ playlist as well as landing BBC Introducing support. Latest single Nothing Personal continues Patrick’s penchant for exploring the more intimate side of life as he tackles themes of heartbreak and love lost. Opening with delicately strummed guitar, Nothing Personal is characterised by Patrick’s silky smooth vocal delivery. Patrick’s tracked vocals shimmer, impressively accented by a toe tapping drum beat and reflective, earnest lyricism.
Nothing Personal, follows on from the success of last year’s double single release ‘You In My Life/Shoulder’. Ed’s earthy approach to musicianship has seen him support fellow artists such as Stu Larsen as well as having his single, ‘Irreplaceable’ added to Passenger’s ‘Roadtrip’ Spotify playlist.
