Single Review: Confirmation – I Don’t Want Your Number

Berlin-based alt-pop sensation Confirmation has released his second single I Don’t Want Your Number. The addictive track is the follow up to the artists debut single, the electro-dance smash Motorbike, which was released this summer.

I Don’t Want Your Number is an electronic, bassy heavyweight which grips you right from the first pounding beat. The opening line of “I saw the way that you walk. You’re walking with the ease of someone who could have it when they want it” introduces us to Confirmation’s gravelly vocal. The synths are deep, dark and brooding but the accompanying keys lend a lighter touch that lifts the track. I also pick up on a retro almost subtle 80s vibe with the sweeping synths and manipulated vocals. The chorus of “I know it’s hard being you, I’m really sorry” sweeps the listener up in an anthemic whirlwind. The track takes on a rockier edge as electric guitars breeze in and I love the contrast between the guitars and the electronic elements. As the chorus progresses the final line of “I know you’re feeling really bad, got me feeling sad. I’ll call you a doctor but baby I don’t want your number” packs a punch to end the track.

When speaking of I Don’t Want Your Number Confirmation said “I just wanted to, in my own little way, tell some of these mean people out there that you’re not gonna get away with being mean forever.” The track is a breath of fresh air and demands attention and I can’t wait to see where Confirmation takes his unique blend of electronic alt-pop next.

Confirmation is a rising star in the music scene. He released his debut single Motorbike this summer and prior to that he gained live experience with his band Galvanize in New York and Berlin. Whilst in Germany he took on live guitar duties for Sarah P. (Keep Shelly in Athens) and Losers (featuring singer Paul Mullen of Yourcodenameis: Milo and producer Tom Bellamy of The Cooper Temple Clause). Confirmation was later put in touch with producer and sound engineer Niko Stoessl and this friendship led to a collaboration, resulting in Motorbike and I Don’t Want Your Number.
