Single Review: Castells – ‘Falling For You’

Indie four-piece Castells have highlighted their hard working ethos by releasing a single every month or two in 2021. Falling For You is the latest of these with the Kent-based band continuing to flourish.

With ‘Calling Me Out’ and title track of forthcoming EP ‘Viola’ already under their belt, Falling For You shows another string to their bow. Upbeat, and full of bright hooks and a memorable chorus, Falling For You is definitively the band’s poppiest release yet. With a silky smooth vocal, heartfelt lyrics and an abundance of harmonies, Castells have shifted their guitar-driven indie rock further into the mainstream. There’s a euphoria to Falling For You that would be befitting of some of the biggest contemporary artists – think Hunny, Declan McKenna and Sam Fender – and it will be a joy to follow the band on their journey as they continue to find their own, unique voice.

Comprised of Connor Crooks (vocals, guitar), Robert Castelino (guitar), Matt Chittenden (bass) and Marc Smith (drums), Castells have been notable for their presence on the London indie music circuit playing with and supporting the likes of Luna Bay, Spinn, Youth Killed It and Only Sun. With the end of lockdown hopefully around the corner, the band will be playing their first headline show at The Grace, Islington in June 2021. With another single to follow and the release of the Viola EP, Castells will be aiming to continue their journey of growth with each passing release.

Falling For You is out now via CAS Records.
