Formed in their hometown of Bridgwater, Somerset, Bridges have been a mainstay on the DIY circuit for a number of years now. With a rich tapestry of indie-rock single releases, the band continue to evolve their sound, perfectly illustrated by latest single Go Long.
Bridges pride themselves on their literary, poignant lyrics. This, paired with a diverse, angular musicianship, creates a grown up, timeless indie-rock sound akin to the likes of Augustines, Frightened Rabbit and Broken Social Scene. Taken from the Empty Galleries EP, out later this year, Go Long follows recent single Rabbit. Characterised by the sincere vocals of Ethan Proctor, Go Long is an emotionally charged single, accented by the gorgeous call and receive harmonies of Chess Williams (keys, vocals), and a metronomic rhythm section, Go Long is a stunning release, the single undulating like a wave, taking the listener on a soul-stirring journey, poking at your heart throughout.
Also consisting of Josh Redman Thomas (guitar), Henry Matthews (Bass) and Tom Farkas (Drums), Bridges have performed at the likes of Glastonbury, 2000 Trees and Isle of Wight. Their emotive soundscapes have gained coverage from tastemakers such as Clash, Dork and Far Out Magazine. With the Empty Galleries EP due to drop this summer, the band have set up some live dates to promote the release including Rough Trade Bristol (16th October), Seabright Arms London (3rd November* sold out) and Aatma Manchester (6th November).
