Single Review: A$AP Rocky – Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2

A$AP Rocky has finally released the full version of ‘Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2‘, which featured as a snippet on his single ‘Multiply‘ back in October 2014 and is the second single from his forthcoming album.

If you’ve heard the teaser already, you’ll be aware of the penetrating and piercing beat that is oh so distinguishable. Rocky’s intense lyrics and flow run parallel with the distorted synthesizer throughout and, as usual, possesses statements about his trendsetting ways and the fashion world: “Always been a stand up guy, I’d rather stand out, Raf Simons, Stan Smith edition with my bands out.” However, despite the production of this track being ambitious and abnormal which Rocky has somewhat trademarked over the years, this cannot be said for his lyrics. Lines that proclaim he’s a ‘Lord’, even if this is the thesis of the track, and reminding us of his lavish appearance, it’s nothing we don’t already know about him. Luckily, his flow and execution justifies his lack of subject matter.

Let’s remember though, this is only a single and its main purpose isn’t necessarily to thrill us lyrically. ‘LPFJ2′ belongs in club territory, accompanied by every banger we heard last year, and deservedly so.
