Review: The Young – Lost EP

“Lost” is the four track début from Midlands based Alternative band The Young.

The EP opening track highlights exactly what this band is about, toe tapping base lines, thumping guitar riffs and powerful vocals. The thing that strikes you about the band is their song writing ability, the band is 4 lads, all under 18 writing songs way above what you would expect of their age. This song writing ability is evident in the EP’s second track “Show The Door”.

The bands influences are heard throughout all of the tracks but while they take influence from the likes of You Me At Six, Young Guns and Mallory Knox they are not cheap rip off’s of them. The Young manage to put their own twist onto their songs and the genre which do make you think of the bands previously said but also think of The Young in their own right.

The Young’s début is 17 minutes of catchy songs, thumping guitar riffs and toe tapping, energetic bass lines. A solid début from four young lads with the world at their feet.
