Review: The Heat

When I sat down to see The Heat I was not optimistic at all, I thought it was going to be one of those films where the only funny bits are in the trailer and the rest is just mind numbingly shocking jokes that die on their backsides.

This was not the case, There wasn’t five consecutive minutes during the film where I didn’t laugh out loud. They were not chuckles or giggles at immature jokes either they were proper belly laughs at good jokes. They were some jokes where you saw the punchline coming but they were still funny enough for you to have a good laugh at.

The plot is typical to that kind of film, up-tight, successful, boring person has to work with their polar opposite. Both Sandra Bullock and co-star Melissa McCarthy are superb together. While watching the film I really expected it to slow down two-thirds through and bore me to tears, much like Bridesmaids did. Superb opening but really died and just ruined it. However, with The Heat no such thing happens. Constant action, constant jokes, constant brilliance.

The best thing about the film is that what you see in the trailer is pretty low on the “hilarious/best” parts of the film list. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a film where I have had tears rolling down my face laughing.

The Heat is a superb film, I cannot see another comedy being funnier than this in 2013, an absolute must see.
