Review: Smalls – Expecting The Worst

Expecting the worst is the fantastic début from Los Angeles band Smalls. The first thing that grabs your attention about Smalls is that they are a female fronted band that do not sound like a cheap, rubbish rip off  of Paramore.

Opening song Lizzie lets us know exactly what this band is about. Fantastic duel vocalist, aggressive pop punk. All four songs of the EP utilise both vocalists brilliantly and all songs have the perfect ingredients to make a great Pop Punk release. The duel vocals from lead vocals Ashley Cadwallader and guitarist/vocals Russell Ladia compliment each other very well and the female vocals are a welcome relief in the male dominated genre of Pop Punk.

With songs containing sad lyrics about feeling alone and getting over past relationships anyone can relate and get on board with what this band is singing about.

Expecting The Worst is a great opening punt from Smalls who can now build on a very solid, very good base and can only go from strength to strength with future releases.
