Review: Lucy Rose – The Kazimier, Liverpool – 06/11/2012

I’ve never come across an artist who sells tea and jam at the merchandise stand, after a gig, until I come across the hugely talented Lucy Rose, but it’s just something else that makes her stand out from the many other singer-songwriter’s in the music business.

Bringing her tour show to a full Liverpool Kazimier venue, which is a big difference to the mere 60 people she played to earlier in the year, in a different Liverpool venue, she was given a huge reception as she entered the stage with her band.  Along with great banter and interaction with the crowd, and the pint of milk she was given (yes, milk!), she reeled off song after song from her début album ‘Like I Used To’, which was released in September.

With the crowd in awe of her brilliant voice, Lucy played album hits such as ‘Red Face’, ‘Night Bus’ and new single ‘Middle Of The Bed’. Lucy finished the main part of her set with her hit single ‘Bikes’, which was greeted with hundreds of voices from the crowd before playing a two song encore.

Lucy and her band stuck around after the gig to meet her fans for pictures and to sign merchandise, which was a just another great touch to what was an absolutely fantastic gig.

If she carries on working hard, it won’t be long before she is headlining bigger venues. I fully recommend you go and see her live.
