Reading & Leeds Festival Present Carl Donnelly’s National Novelty Dance Off

Voted ‘Best Festival’ at the NME Awards, this year’s Reading & Leeds Festivals are officially set to be better than ever!

With exclusive performances from huge UK exclusive headliners Green Day, Eminem and Biffy Clyro and rising stars alike, the festivals are the only place to spend the August Bank Holiday weekend with friends this summer.

Have you got the moves that set the dance floor alight? Are you ready to rumble? Do you do the best running man? Then Reading & Leeds has the competition for you! Comedian Carl Donnelly is helping Reading & Leeds Festivals to find the UK’s best Novelty Dancers in a fantastic competition to win guest tickets to the Festivals, free food and drink, festival swag and an amazing £500 spending money.

See Carl explain and demonstrate some moves below:

There will be two live auditions, one at 3sixty, Reading University on May 21st (7.30pm) and one at the Student Union (Portland Place); Leeds MET University on May 29th (7.30pm). Groups of up to 6 friends can strut their stuff for a panel of well-known comedy judges including Carl Donnelly, Paul McCaffrey, Damian Clark, Eric Lampeart and Tom Deacon.

Three groups from each live audition round will win weekend tickets to Reading or Leeds Festival to enjoy the weekend, plus the once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform at Reading & Leeds in front of the crowds at the Alternative Stage. Three further groups of the judges favourite online entries will also win weekend tickets and go through to the finals at each site and battle their rivals live on the Alternative Stage.

The crowned winner(s) at both Reading & Leeds will enjoy an upgrade to guest tickets, free food and drink, merchandise and an amazing £500 spending money to share.

To enter, groups of up to 6 mates need to put together a Novelty Dance to one of the 10 chosen tracks in the ‘Dance Off Playlist’, which can be seen on the Reading & Leeds official websites and Facebook pages. The judges are looking for a choreographed dance, uncoordinated shambling will not win you this amazing prize!

Come along to one of the live auditions or film an entry and email it to competitions@festivalrepublic.com before 12pm on 15th July 2013 (putting ‘Reading Novelty Dance’ or ‘Leeds Novelty Dance’ as the subject line).
