Queens Of The Stone Age Announce Plans For World Tour and New Album

Queens Of The Stone Age have announced plans for an ‘extensive’ world tour to accompany their new album release. The band will return to the stage for the first time since the 2011 tour which commemorated the re-release of their self-titled debut album.

The news was accompanied by the confirmation that ‘Queens Of The Stong Age’ are set to release their forthcoming new album, ‘…Like Clockwork’, this June on their new label, the independent Matador.

Dates for the band’s own headline tour are yet to be announced, but a number of festival shows have already been revealed, including the band’s live comeback this weekend  at Lollapalooza  in Brazil.

Over the summer they will play Download in the UK, Southside and Hurricane Festivals in Germany, Peace and Love Festival in Sweden, Rock The Beach in Finland, Rock A Field in Luxembourg, Roskilde in Denmark, Open’er Festival in Poland, Volt Festival in Hungary and Benicàssim in Spain.

The bands sixth studio album  ‘…Like Clockwork’, is the first full length collection of music to be released by ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ since 2007’s  ‘Era Vulgaris’

A  press release circulated by the band’s label earlier today, confirms the list of guest stars appearing on the new album, including Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, Dave Grohl, Elton John, Trent Reznor, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. It was also revealed that former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore will join them on the road as their full-time touring drummer, replacing long-term ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ drummer Joey Castillo.

Previous Queens Of The Stone Age collaborators Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri will also appear on the album as will James Lavelle of UNKLE. The album was recorded at Pink Duck Studios in Burbank and produced by frontman Joshua Homme alongside the rest of the band.
