Negredo Nearing City Switch

Sevilla CF are on the verge of securing the £24m sale of former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo to former Premier League Champions, Manchester City according to reports from the Spanish sports radio station, Marca.

Should the move become official it would surely be the final nail in the coffin for the Sevilla CF of old as the Spanish side’s squad has gone through wholesale changes so far this summer with fellow Spain international Jesus Navas leaving (also to City) for £15m, hot prospect Luis Alberto leaving for Liverpool and Antonio Luna leaving for Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old has been known to be looking for a way out of the Andalusia club for some time now however prior interest from the likes of West Ham United has been turned down as the Spaniard is looking to secure regular Champions League football and all that could be achieved with Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has long been linked with Tottenham Hotspur as well but City seem to be the side at the front of the queue for the Spaniard who has averaged a goal every other game for Sevilla in his time at the club. The player is very similar to Edin Dzeko, perhaps a bit more adept than the Bosnian with the ball at his feet and one has to wonder if this move does go through, where will the City super sub’s future lie?

As always, stick with us here to keep up to date with all the news but as things stand at the minute, all the signs are pointing to Negredo becoming a City player very soon indeed.
