Madrid give up on Bale

Real Madrid have officially pulled out of the race for Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale.

Spanish Sports newspaper Marca broke the news last night that Madrid have pulled the plug on their interest for this window at least as Florentino Perez and his team were unable to break Tottenham’s resolve when negotiating for the player’s services.

Outlandish reports have surfaced in recent weeks that Tottenham have been holding out for a nine-figure transfer fee for the Welshman however, despite the infinitely deep pockets of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, Madrid are not willing to pay that much for Bale and say there is no room for further negotiation as they’ve exhausted every option available to bring the asking price down.

Madrid and Spurs were at loggerheads this time last year over another Spurs player, Luka Modric, but this situation differs in Madrid’s eyes as Modric openly requested a move to Real Madrid saying it’s where he wanted to be whereas Bale seems unwilling to do that therefore Madrid don’t have the leverage they need to lower the asking price to a more attractive level for them.

Bale now looks set to stay for at least another season in a show of faith to the club who paid £7m to purchase him from Southampton as a 17-year-old and have developed him into the world-class player he is today.
