Luis Figo to Run for FIFA Presidency

Portuguese great Luis Figo has become the latest shock candidate for the role of Fifa president.
The former player joins David Ginola, Prince Ali of Jordan, former Ajax chairman Michael van Praag and Jerome Champagne in the race to replace Sepp Blatter as boss of world football’s governing body.

Figo, it’s understood has already acquired the five votes that he needs to stand for presidency. Figo said, “As I speak to many people in football – to players, managers and association presidents – so many of those people have told me that something has to be done.”

All would-be candidates have to register their interest in running before Thursday 29th January and they must all then pass an anti-corruption test before they are allowed to begin their campaigns.
