Fresh from smashing the Radio One and NME stage at Reading and Leeds festival, Lower Than Atlantis are back with what is set to be the biggest album of their career!
The new self titled LP, released on September 29th 2014 is a step in a different direction for these British rockers. Front man Mike Duce had this to say about the new approach; “There’s only so far you can go with four blokes playing guitars, bass and drums, and now was the time to do whatever the fuck we wanted.”
The album consists of 12 different songs, including the latest release ‘Here We Go‘ which was Zane Lowes ‘Hottest Record In The World’ last month and has since been A Listed on Radio One. It also earned the band a headline slot during Radio One’s Rock Week which shows just how promising the new album seemed.
Recently, Lower Than Atlantis also dropped the video for the next single from the album, ‘English Kids In America‘. Whereas I don’t see it as having as much of an impact as the lead single, this song is still catchy with a memorable chorus line. Lines like “We’ll get lost and find ourselves in foreign lands” signifies the bands willingness to experiment with their sound. ‘Ain’t No Friend‘ gives a strong hint towards the new experimental style these lads have taken as you can hear more electronic effects and lines. Don’t worry fans if the old style sound, the guitar is still as dominant and prevalent as ever.
The Watford based punk rockers have created a strongly diverse album with full on driven songs like ‘Here We Go‘ and ‘Emily‘ being contrasted yet matched for flavour by the meaningful lyrics of songs such as ‘Number One‘ or ‘Ain’t No Friend‘.
If playing Reading and Leeds festival, their own headline tour and having one of the most anticipated albums of the year wasn’t enough for one of Britain’s hottest rock acts, then the news announced the they will be heading out on tour supporting the mighty A Day To Remember on their All Signs Point To Britain Tour later this year in November surely has them and their fans set to burst.
