Launchbox: Laura Jae

Hailing from wonderful South London, Electro-cinematic solo artist Laura Jae has been receiving growing acclaim. Just yesterday she was added to the credible Guardian ‘New Bands’ playlist.

Her musician father filled their family home with the songs of Sade, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton. Her mum meanwhile contributed to her early musical influences with her love of country music, playing Norah Jones and The Carpenters and in doing so gave a young Laura Jae real musical diversity.

Jae’s voice is smooth and atmospheric, perfect for a late night chill-out in front of the fire or on the beach. With echoes of James Blake and The xx, her debut effort is likely to be very well received in the months to come.

Here the voice in action in Laura Jae’s brand new track, ‘Let Go‘. The song describes the mental state of dependency and the perpetual battle of freeing oneself from ones vices.
