KIOL Launches New Single & Quarantine-Inspired Music Video – ‘Lonely’

COVID-19 may have pushed back the release date of his highly anticipated upcoming album Techno Drug Store, but that hasn’t stopped KIOL from dropping a fresh single and music video in the form of ‘Lonely’.

KIOL is only 22 years young but has already built a steady reputation for his wonderful story-telling style influenced by artists such as Mac Miller, Alex Turner and Angus Stone. His upcoming album appears to be no different, containing all the staples he has become known for; fun, catchy melodies and punchy choruses included.

‘Lonely’ is the first of four singles KIOL has planned to release over the next few months, leading up to the now October release of Techno Drug Store. The track explores the journey one takes after leaving home, along with the antics they have gotten up to since, including getting high and browsing porn uninterrupted.

While the song has undertones surrounding the idea of “lonely” being a negative thing, it is generally written to portray a more positive outlook on the experience. While the music itself had done a great job of getting this idea across, the music video doubles down on it with its fun and creative vibe.

Completely shot and edited by KIOL himself on an iPhone, the ‘Lonely’ video is a great montage of sliced footage sewn together to portray him in multiple positions around the main room of his apartment. Playing all the instruments to the tune, KIOL definitely struck gold here in telling his story through a visual medium on top of the sound itself.

With more singles on their way ahead of October’s Techno Drug Store date, ‘Lonely’ is a great song to jump on board the KIOL bandwagon with. With just one timely video, he has shown off his best strengths while leaving us longing for more.
