Introducing: The 1975

The 1975 are that refreshing band that comes around every so often and restores everyone’s faith in music, with a variety of sounds from indie rock to synthy pop, the Manchester boys are certainly on their way to making 2013 their year.

The 1975 are an alternative indie quartet from Manchester, consisting of band members Matthew Healy (Guitar/Vocals), Adam Hann (Guitar), George Daniel (Drums) and Ross MacDonald (Bass).

Already known for gigging hard and writing catchy songs, the 1975 are certainly a band that are ready to take 2013 by storm after catching the eye of some of the biggest names in music such as Zane Lowe towards the end of 2012. Currently out on a sold out lengthy UK tour in support of their first two acclaimed EP’s ‘Facedown’ and ‘Sex’, the band have already announced more live dates in May including a date at London’s Heaven venue on May 29.

With great reviews not only of their songs but also their live performances from some of the biggest names in music, the band’s debut album is going to be one that is eagerly waited for by the bands ever growing fan base.

Bringing a mix of different sounding tracks from the guitar riff indie rock track ‘Sex’ to the more boppy ‘Little Comets’ sounding track ‘Chocolate’ and songs in between with bass and synths in songs such as ‘The City’, it brings a perfect variety to keep the band sounding fresh which is something the music industry has lacked for quiet some time. Signed to Dirty Hit Records in the UK & Europe and Vagrant Records in the USA, the band plan to release a third EP along with their debut album this year, which will be co-produced by Mike Crossey who is known for producing albums by bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Foals.

With one sold out UK tour under their belts and a full length debut album on the way, I’m pretty certain The 1975 wont be playing smaller venues for much longer. If their full album is as good as their first two EP’s, The 1975 could certainly be the breakthrough band of 2013.
