Haye v Fury: The Fight Is Back On!

The biggest heavyweight bout on UK shores since Lennox Lewis took on Frank Bruno has been rescheduled for February 8th, 2014.

David Haye was forced to pull out of the original bout against Tyson Fury due to a cut suffered in a late sparring session, which required six stitches. The former WBA world heavyweight champion had expressed his disappointment of having to pull out of the fight but the mood has somewhat changed in the Haye camp.

“News of the date in February is music to my ears,” Haye said.

“My fans will still get the chance to see what they all wanted to see this weekend – they’ll get to see Tyson Fury sparked out in a spectacular fashion.”

Mick Hennessy, Fury’s promoter, has labeled Haye’s decision to spar so close to the mega fight as “crazy and wrong” and admitted that Tyson was left furious when the Londoner pulled out of the bout.

Haye, however, was quick to defend his actions.

“Sparring eight days before a fight is nothing new or unusual,” said the two weight world champion.

“I’ve done this before fights in the past and never had an issue.”

The fight on February 8th will still take place at the Manchester Phones 4u Arena and the war of words is only going to continue between the two British heavyweights.
