Fortitude Picks: 5 Acts Not To Be Missed At BARN ON THE FARM ’14

With one of the most consistent line-ups year after year, the Gloucestershire based festival, Barn On The Farm, have delivered quality again in this year’s bill.

We’ll be heading along to bring you a review of the weekend’s action as well as interviews with a massive amount of artists. In anticipation, we just had to tip our top 5 acts you absolutely cannot miss if you’re heading along this year!

Amber Run

Nottingham five piece, Amber Run received massive support with their 2013 EP ‘Noah’ but are now rapidly progressing this year with their latest ‘Spark’ which shows off a critical maturity in their sound. A laid back Indie vibe should see them take the tempo of Barn on the Farm up a notch and we’ve very high expectations for their set.

James Bay

23 year old James Bay is easily one of the finest raw talents we’ve come across in quite some time. His support slot on tour with Kodaline sort of gave James the momentum to really build on, and he seems to be doing just that with his new EP, ‘Let It Go’. An acoustic blend of alternative Indie, the vibe that Barn on the Farm seems to spark should be perfect for James. A must see.

Hozier

What can we say about this Irish stormer? Hozier’s live performance is something to be witnessed – his smooth, dark blend of soulful folk really strikes a chord on a live stage, and he’s so fitting for the headline slot at this year’s festival. Stand out singles such as ‘Take Me To Church’, ‘From Eden’ and ‘Sedated’ should attract a massive crowd, and there we’ll be amongst it!

Prides

Prides are quite new on our radar, but wow are we glad we found them! The synth-pop trio hailing from Scotland belt out upbeat numbers striking a festival mood even on record. Their three track EP ‘The Seeds You Sow’ which came out this year is just the start for these guys. We predict big things.

Saint Raymond

It’s no secret that Callum Burrows, aka Saint Raymond is an absolute Fortitude favourite. Firm fans from the start, we’re so impressed with the Nottingham artist’s progress. Having secured a forthcoming support slot on an arena tour with Ed Sheeran, Burrows is set to blow. With three EPs released to date, his second ‘Young Blood’ was pretty much the icing on the cake for him, with ‘Ghosts’ coming as a promising follow-up. We’re really looking forward to his powerful, eccentric set at this year’s Barn on the Farm.
