Everton reject £28m bid from United for Baines and Fellaini

David Moyes has been promising more transfer activity for Manchester United ever since their move for Cesc Fabregas hit the wall; today we’ve had our first taste of that activity as the Scot has attempted to raid his old club with £28m bid for his two star players last term.

Everton have rejected the bid and are a club that have been known to be stringent with their transfer business, never letting anyone go for less than what they believe is their true value. This move could be drawn out until the end of the window as Everton have previously said they’d want £18m for Baines and Manager Roberto Martinez has said that Fellaini’s £23m release clause (which expired at the end of July) was cheap; do the math and it’s pretty much guaranteed that United won’t be jumping from sub£30m to £40m+ in a short amount of time.

There’s no disputing the talent these two individuals have but whether or not the Old Trafford outfit are willing to pay out so much will remain to be seen. Stick with us here at Fortitude for the latest on this one.
