Erich Mrak Launches New Single – ‘Girls’

Fresh, fun, short and sweet – ‘Girls’ is the latest single from Toronto’s own Erich Mrak.

Clocking in at just over 2 minutes, ‘Girls’ is a quick glimpse into Erich Mrak’s style. He can’t exactly be cornered into a single genre, as he strips a part hip-hop and alternative pop, before fusing it all back together like his own Frankenstein’s monster. Only, this is a monster we’re craving and wanting more of.

‘Girls’ is packed with distorted vocals and a lot of processed guitar, which shouldn’t come as a surprise when you realise what inspired the single’s sound. Mrak has said “the influences behind Girls lie somewhere between Post Malone, Tame Impala, and The 1975″. Explaining the content of the lyrics and what sparked the writing process, “the core message of the song lies in the supportive dynamic friendship plays in encouraging someone they can do better.” All of this adds up to a really sweet and uplifting track, something that I’d argue we could all use more of this year.

Erich Mrak had been named “one of the standout artists of the year” in 2019 and it’s not difficult to see why; there’s a lot to enjoy here – and there’s more coming! Mrak has been working hard despite the ongoing quarantine, preparing a series of live videos shot in his own living room to be released soon. We’re excited to see how his music translates to a live setting, so keep your eyes peeled as we’ll definitely feature these on the site over the remainder of the year.
