Festival season may have been cancelled this year but fear not, because Nuala is here to save the day! Her latest EP ‘Me & Me’ is an infectious collection of fun-filled beats that are bound to get your toes tapping in no time.
Kicking off with the politically charged ‘Split Down The Middle’, Nuala combines elements of reggae, pop and indie in order to create a sounds that is undeniably addictive as a result. The pace slows down slightly for the emotive ballad ‘Cry Fucking Loud’ – a song about obnoxious men polluting the world – but that doesn’t mean its not packed with a punch. Throughout the EP, Nuala’s powerfully distinctive vocal soars effortlessly over the dynamic instrumentation, reminding us of the likes of Hayley Williams or Nina Nesbitt instantly.
The EP finishes with the big, bold and brilliant track ‘Away’, a song that fuses reggae, soul and even slight hip-hip sensibilities, creating something truly special as a result. Fans of the likes of Haitus Kaiyote and Natasha Bedingfield will feel at home here.
Nuala may look young, but her voice fuses vintage twangs with more contemporary tones creating a sound that is undeniably infectious—and we just love it.
