Indie-electro outfit Kid Cupid have finally returned after a four year hiatus and boy, it was definitely worth the wait. Kid Cupid originally formed in 2017 as a four-piece and have since reformed as a collective with Laura Shaw (vocals) and James Hogan (production, percussion) at it’s core. Their stunning new EP ‘Heartlands’ is out now.
Opening with the seductively celestial single ‘Out of The Sun’, we are immediately welcomed back with open arms into exactly what makes Kid Cupid so unique. Combining subtle electronics with jangling guitars and Laura’s soft, slick vocal, ‘Out of The Sun’ is both catchy and compelling and we can’t get enough. If Fleetwood Mac and The xx ever form a super group, dare we say it would sound like this?
Next up is the equally seductive but maybe slightly more electro-pop focused ‘Honey’. Giving us feel-good Friday night vibes whilst also serving sexy Sunday chill vibes… you make up your own mind.
Ending with ‘You Say It All The Time’, this EP flow effortlessly from one song into another and the only real shame is that’s not long enough! Sounding akin to the likes of The Japanese House or London Grammar, Heartlands is filled with seductive synths and whirring hooks throughout.
With ‘Heartlands’, Kid Cupid hope to captivate listeners further with their intricate blend of hazy indie-electronica.
