These days, it’s hard to find good French music. The last good thing to really come out of our cousins across the English Channel was Gerald De Palmas, which were a huge band back in the late 90’s and early 00’s. Sadly, there hasn’t been much else to make note of. Then came the latest EP from French Canadian singer/ songwriter Charlène Blanchette, titled Toxique.

Hailing from Montreal, this woman has been doing music since she was five years old. Graduating from La Ecole Nationale De La Chanson (The national song school) in Quebec, she has since performed at festivals and in many contests back in Canada, including being a part of TVA, one of the Canada’s largest musical channels. Toxique is her third EP, which she worked and performed alongside Montreal DJ Larose.
Though she had moved away from her past style of pop-folk songs to do more techno styled music, it is a nice change which the young singer has pulled off remarkably. The mixture of her unique sounding voice and Larose’s music make for a wonderful match. If you are looking for some new techno themed styled music, and a unique sound, check her out.
