EP Review: Architects Of Grace – ‘Outsiders’

Headed by Duncan Robert, Architects Of Grace have returned, following their 2011 debut album Moments In Time. Having previously received acclaim from the likes of Classic Rock Magazine and Artrocker, Architects Of Grace have now released a brand new EP.

EP opener, and title track, ‘Outsiders’ oozes ‘80s pop vibes alongside its own distinctive eerie intensity. Filled with rich musical layers and an encompassing dark aura, it sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the EP.

Next is ‘Stay To Say’; upping the energy slightly, it showcases Architects Of Grace’s ability to create his own unique style of intense gothgaze. A wonderfully atmospheric track, it builds to a haunting climax that’ll send a shiver down your spine.

Following track ‘We Stand Together’ exudes shades of industrial electronica, as a sweeping melancholy and lingering chords create a dark, cinematic power that would make Trent Reznor proud.

The EP closes on a slightly lighter note; ‘Under Stars’ is a reflective creation filled with a depth of meaning, strewn with delicate melodies and heartwarming emotion. A short, but very sweet, end to an innovative and unique collection of songs.

‘Outsiders’, the new EP from Architects Of Grace, is out now on Out Of Nowhere.
