How to embrace lazy days

These days there are endless options to waste away those lazy days after the big nights out or just to unwind after a long day. While nights out are still on our timetables, as we enter our working lives, straying away from our student days, sometimes we just want to unwind alone, with friends or partners.

Nothing has encapsulated the night in more than the ubiquitous Netflix and chill. Free trials and reasonable subscription fees have brought us away from traditional TV or even torrenting. With a huge range of up to the minute releases from TV and film Netflix has become a staple of the lazy day or even casual date night. Strangely placing us back on the sofa in front of the screen but this time around we’re in charge just as soon as we can agree on something!

We still have the classic, gaming consoles. With the new generation of systems twiddling your thumbs has never been so satisfying. Whether taking to the track in exotic sports cars ala Forza or going online and blowing a hole in your best friends head in the latest Call of Duty ‘hanging out’ has never been more causal, the wonders of online play means you can chat or scream abuse at each other and nobody has to know your only wearing underwear.

And if consoles aren’t your thing, or you can’t face forking out several hundred pounds, there’s always mobile gaming. Yes its mobile and great for on the go but we all know it works so well on the sofa with some random show playing in the background. EA offer a great racer, Real racing 3. Endless tower defence games line the virtual shelves with some real gems (Evil Defenders) stacked amongst them.  Now we have a variety of casino style games offering the flashing lights, risks and rewards of real casinos. Once upon a time for that experience a suit, tie and roll of £20’s was your only way in. However with slippers on and a dog on your lap you can play now for no deposit bingo with apps such as House of Bingo.

Similarly to Netflix we have Spotify, another subscription service that offers a huge range of music streamed directly to an array of different devices. Their library now including The Beatles! So if the watching The Great British bake off has given you the kind of itch that can only be scratched by fresh warm cupcakes or maybe even bread, you can satisfy that need baking away with a soundtrack of your choosing. Culinarily less adventurous? Well drown out the microwave with 50 second timely punk tunes like Wasted – Black Flag!

It’s no surprise that staying in has become such a popular way to spend some of our days with so much going on in our lives we have to take the time to tap out and then tap in to our inner laziness. Sometimes we take our lazy days for granted but we all appreciate them again when we finally find time to have one again.

So this is what some of us get up to, what ways do you embrace the lazy day?
