Brazilian midfielder set to sign for Tottenham in £17m switch

Positive negotiations are said to have taken place regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Corinthians and Brazil star, Paulinho.

The midfielder has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and it seems that his impressive form to date in the Confederations Cup for Brazil as well as some good displays in the Club World Cup earlier in the season have seen Tottenham step up their interest in the 24-year-old.

Sources close to the club indicate that a fee of £17m has been agreed for the player’s services after news broke that ex-Arsenal midfielder, Edu (now Director of Football at the Brazilian club), told UOL that the “situation is well underway” but that some details were still left to be finalised.

It’s unlikely that the move will be completed before the end of the current international tournament in Brazil but as the information above indicates, Spurs and Corinthians have got the ball rolling and the English side look to be well on their way to completing their first move of the summer.
